Think Texas is too hot for ice skating? Think again. The Lone Star State has built an impressive network of year-round indoor ice arenas, driven in large part by the Dallas Stars' StarCenter program, a booming Houston ice scene, and growing communities across the state hungry for ice programming. Whether you're in DFW, Houston, or San Antonio, there's quality ice within reach. Here are the best ice skating rinks in Texas.
Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex
Dr Pepper StarCenter McKinney
Part of the Dallas Stars' network of community ice facilities, Dr Pepper StarCenter McKinney is one of the premier ice destinations in the DFW area. Located in fast-growing McKinney, the two-sheet facility offers public skating, figure skating lessons, hockey leagues at all levels, and an active Learn to Skate program modeled after US Figure Skating's curriculum. Adult admission is around $13. The pro shop offers custom sharpening and carries a full line of equipment.
StarCenter Euless
StarCenter Euless is another Dallas Stars facility, strategically located in the Mid-Cities between Dallas and Fort Worth to serve the Euless, Bedford, Hurst, and Grapevine communities. Two full sheets, adult admission around $13, and the same quality programming found at all StarCenter locations. A great option for skaters in the central DFW corridor.
Ice at the Galleria — Dallas
For a skating experience with a side of upscale shopping, Ice at the Galleria Dallas is a full-size indoor rink located inside the Galleria Dallas mall. Open year-round, with adult admission around $16 and skate rentals at $6. San Antonio
Ice at the Rim — San Antonio

Tips for Skating in Texas
Ice is always indoors. You won't find meaningful outdoor skating in Texas (the climate makes it impractical), but the state's indoor facilities are excellent and open year-round.
The Dallas Stars' StarCenter program is a model. The Stars have invested significantly in grassroots ice skating development across DFW. Their StarCenter facilities are consistently well-run, with quality programming and ice.
Skating is growing fast. Texas has seen strong growth in both hockey and figure skating participation over the past decade. Youth programs at most facilities are expanding, and adult hockey leagues are increasingly popular.
Houston and SA options are solid. While DFW has more facilities overall, Houston's Aerodrome and San Antonio's Ice at the Rim are quality venues that serve their communities well.
